X Factor-inspired Looks, the Easy Way
You’ve no doubt been tuning into the X Factor live shows for the past few weeks. And if you class yourself as something of a beauty junkie, you’ve probably even tried to recreate some of the contestants’ make-up looks, too. Anyone who watched last Saturday’s (October 16) X Factor will have clocked Rebecca Ferguson’s bold statement plum lips before she even sang a note. While Simon wasn’t keen, the word on Internet beauty forums is you loved the Scouse singer’s dramatic pout. Here’s how you can achieve the look yourself for under a tenner
Purples, particularly deep burgundy shades, are a must this autumn. Try them for yourself with Stila Cosmetics Shine lipstick in Sonia. If your beauty budget will stretch a little further, opt for a spot of luxury with YSL’s Rouge Pure Shine lipstick in the shade Golden Violet Number 9. Rebecca’s eye make up was fairly minimal, with pale lilac eye shadow similar to Barry M’s Dazzle Dust in Lavender and a fine slick of black eyeliner. Not brave enough to try this vibrant shade for yourself? YSL’s luxurious lipsticks make perfect Christmas stocking fillers for make-up mad sisters, friends and mums.
Purple not for you? Instead, recreate the look 17-year-old Cher Lloyd sported when she performed J Z’s Hard Knock Life live on the show. While you may not have been a fan of her ghetto-style baggy trousers ensemble, her make-up was thankfully a little more wearable. Team a vibrant orangey red lipstick with an ice blue shimmery eye shadow like Barry M’s Dazzle Dust in Grey mixed with a Barry M Silver shadow. If you want to go all out like Cher, bold up your brows by filling them in with a black eyebrow pencil.
Prefer to make a more subtle statement like X Factor’s Katie Waissel in her Saturday performance? Katie’s nude toned dress and girlie make-up really complemented her fair skin. You can go for a similar minimal look by using a pale lip colour like Barry M Lip Paint Marshmellow. The former salon receptionist also went for pale pink/brown eye shadow and a sweep of bronzer on the cheeks.
But it wasn’t just about the finalists’ make-up last Saturday night; judge Cheryl Cole also rocked her own look. Stepping out with brand new DIY home-dyed red locks, the Girls Aloud star went for a fishtail plait in her hair and fairly neutral make-up. She wore a muted version of Cher’s orangey lips with subtle blusher and pale brown eye shadow. See how you too can create your own X Factor-inspired looks on a much tighter budget online.
